on the record & on the road w/ moe.!
After laying down some soulful tracks for progressive rock band moe.'s new release, Sticks & Stones, Nadīne was invited by the band to join them on the road!
The moe. mini-tour included the House of Blues in Ohio, performing on the nationally syndicated radio show, 'Mountain Stage' {others on the bill include Ani DiFranco, Big Head Todd & the Monsters and George Stanford} and The Sherman Theater in Stroudsburg, PA.
AND, if that wasn't amazing enough, moe. invited Swampadelica to perform at moe.down #9! Unforgettable !!

2009
on the record @ the Baz!
Brian & Nadīne contributed some soulful live performances at the vibey lounge called Baz Bar on St. Barth's island
in the French West Indies in celebration of the venue's 10th year anniversary. A collection of live shows at the Baz
over ten years includes fellow artists KJ Denhert,
Art Halperin, Adam Falcon,
Evan Goodrow and more. The Baz is a special place filled with wonderful musicians and
an even more amazing crew. We're priveledged to be part of this collection.
Live tunes include Joni Mitchell's 'Woodstock', Bob Marley's 'Natural Mystic' with Sebastian Marconato
(pictured above) on flute and Swampadelica's '2nd Place'

WARM FOR THE WINTER w/ BIG JEFF
2009
Nadīne joined children's singer / songwriter, "Big Jeff" DeSmedt on back up vocals for his new album, "Warm for the Winter".
This new CD, which includes songs about Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa, is a holiday celebration for all.
In his interview with SCOPE, Big Jeff was asked what holiday he celebrates:
"We celebrate Christmas. But to me, part of the point of that story is to try to include everybody; Jew, Gentile, Shepherd, Wise Man, Samaritan, etc. The way for me to carry that ideal forward is to explore the richness of other traditions and celebrate the common ground we have. And to sing about Hot Cocoa and Sleepy Bears in between the holiday songs!"
~ Big Jeff
Nadīne sang back up vocals on the Kwanzaa tune titled, "Habari Gani".
"I was really honored when Big Jeff asked me to sing this tune with him.
Kwanzaa is such a beautiful African-American tradition that I have celebrated with friends for years now.
I love that Jeff chose to share this rich, community loving tradition with such a wide audience."
~ Nadīne

Nadīne recorded with Phish's remarkable bassist / composer, Mike Gordon, at the legendary Electric Ladyland Studios in Manhattan.
Mike Gordon's new album, The Green Sparrow, which hit stores August 5th, was recorded at Mike's home studio in Vermont and mixed at The Barn and features special guests Chuck Leavell, Trey Anastasio and Page McConnell, Bill Kreutzmann, Ivan Neville, horn players from Antibalas and Nadīne LaFond on back-up vocals. From the deeply rooted funk of "Radar Blip" (Nadīne's favorite to work on) to the rousing intricacies of "Andelmans' Yard," from the spirited rock of "Traveled Too Far" to the punch of "Another Door," The Green Sparrow is a playful album from an artist who continually reveals new layers of far-reaching invention.
What an amazing experience!!
The Green Sparrow is available at Phish Dry Goods.

S'ac Passé? N'ap Boulé!
Swampadelica has lovingly crafted a new album which started it's journey with Pete Carini in
Burlington, VT at Trey Anastasio's The Barn recording studio, drove to the Red Rocks of Pennsylvania
(recording studio), then to George Clinton's old digs (Swamp founder Damian Calcagne's new home)
where P-Funk's heyday was hailed, flew to St. Barth's for a solid month of performing the tunes live to an
international audience and finally landed in the hills of Northern New Jersey at Brian Herkert & Nadīne LaFond's
art & music home studio, The Hideout (as in the Honeycomb Hideout). The band is stoked to
finally release the new album, S'ac Passé?! CDs are available now!
ABOUT THE ALBUM
Brian (guitar) says that this album represents a sort of a musical reverse migration:
"It starts with the current sounds of rock and hip-hop, travels to the Gulf states with funk and early American blues, from there moves to the Caribbean with Haītian Kreyol and the rhythms of reggae and ska and finally ends up back in Africa via Nadīne's African vocal styles and the use of instrumentation such as the *hindewhu, udu and kalimba."Nadīne (lead vocals) feels that this album is like a Haītian griot (storyteller) who takes on all the characteristics of the tale to help animate its message.
It's all that and more and the band really proud of it.
* Thanks to master percussionist, Ahmondylla Best,
who taught Nadīne how to play the hindewhu, a reed instrument from the Ba-Benzélé Nation of Central Africa, which
adds to Swamp's unique sound.
Featuring Nadīne LaFond on lead and background vocals.
