Community Arts

These socially engaged art-based learning experiences; whether group workshops, in-school and afterschool programming or creative happenings, support community members in coming together to express concerns or issues through artistic practice that acts as a catalyst for forward movement and change. Featured workshops and custom programming focus on social justice, cultural preservation, youth empowerment, creative aging and selfcare practice.

FEATURED OFFERINGS

Art Meditation

This class will support participants in focusing their attention and energy in order to concentrate and innovate. We’re using art making techniques to honor and fully experience our mind in flow through stream of consciousness expression by combining purpose and play. We’ll work together to harness the power of the here and now as our resource to discover and make possible what we imagine.

The Griot’s Brush

Translating the ancient tradition of the African griot, the storyteller and repository of traditional culture and history of their people, into visual arts in combination with music to help document stories.

Right To Earth

This workshop is an opportunity to examine human rights violations within communities of color relating to the environment through research and experimentation with found objects art.
