Collectors and Artist collab to share storytelling from a personal, collective and historic point of view.
Soul Kindred Stories seeks to share transformational tales of self, family and community. These handmade mixed media or assemblage works allow both the artist and sitter to use unconventional materials and methods to create unique symbolic portraits.
I’m using the creative process of art making as an opportunity to participate in collective storytelling as a way of reclaiming narratives, especially for BIPOC communities. It is my hope to inspire collectors and, through their participation of this collection, to create opportunities to share the positive impact. This is true manifestation and, for this, I give thanks.

The Pilot Series of the Soul Kindred Stories kicks off a small annual collection of custom, highly symbolic portraits focused on storytelling; combining literary elements, abstract motifs and figurative components with cultural / historical research and personal artifacts to create quite unique and powerful heirlooms. The pilot series represents a great passion for me as an artist and art & activism educator. It also shares the new style and approach of my work as well as creates a portfolio that helps introduce the next iteration of the portraits series to launch in 2025, which invites youth and elders working together to produce large scale portraits honoring their community heros.
